Leading Retrospectives for Agile Projects: Who, When, How

Trainer: Diana Larsen
Duration: 2 days

Organizations mandate project reviews to help teams examine what went right and what went  wrong on a project. But, those project reviews are only held at the end of the project, when it’s too late to make a difference for that product and usually doesn’t change anything for future projects either!

In organizations where teams develop using iterative, incremental methods, Agile retrospectives at the end of each iteration and increment stimulate continuous improvement throughout the project. Exceptional software process and project improvement grows out of the solid data and good planning that form the core of retrospectives.

The last principle in the Agile Manifesto asserts, “At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.” Through retrospectives, team members gain skills in learning, thinking and making decisions as a team. Those skills strengthen their capacity to reflect, tune and adjust effectively during retrospectives and continuously throughout the project.

Diana Larsen, co-author of "Agile Retrospectives: Making Good Teams Great!" will lead you through an investigation of how retrospectives fit with Agile projects, introduce you to a simple framework for retrospective design, and offer an opportunity to practice designing and leading retrospectives for your team.

This training will be conducted in English.
